The difference between a category and a position.

A category makes a business understandable. A position makes it preferable.

Categories are useful, but incomplete.

People use categories to orient themselves. Calling a company a studio, platform or hair-care brand helps a visitor know where they are. It does not tell them why this option deserves preference.

Position is the deliberate contrast.

A position connects the category to a meaningful difference: a problem solved differently, a standard held more strongly, or a customer understood more specifically. It is not a slogan; it is a decision the business can repeatedly demonstrate.

If this is the decision in front of your business, explore brand strategy that finds the position. For a concrete example, See how Evren became one clearer brand.
